IBM Deutschland GmbH brings its skill gained by the development of numerous standards-based solutions into the project, particularily in the area of long-term archiving. Additionally by working with innovative clients within the project context available assets may be oriented closely to future market-oriented needs and demands.
The expertise that IBM brings to the project includes the experience gained through the development of DIAS at the Koninklijke Bibliotheek (National Library of the Netherlands), skills in technologies for long-term archiving as a product focus (for example, the Universal Virtual Computer as the basis for emulation and migration strategies for electronic publications), and its experience in service and project work.
IBM's responsibilities include the delivery of the DIAS-Core and IBM Content Manager as the basis for long-term archiving as well as the further functional and technological development of DIAS by considering preservation aspects.
